Through the HIS School ministry, HIS1040 focuses on the training and equipping of indigenous servants in the 1040 region of the world. Often a formal seminary education is very difficult to secure for the ministers that God is raising up around the world because of government prohibition of Christianity or because of the humble and remote origins of the ministers. The Bible promises that those he calls He also equips! That's why we are so sure that training and affirming indigenous ministers in Biblical, Geographic, and Missiological information is so key to our partnership with them. In our desire to honor some of God's servants in the field, HIS1040 hosts 3 day ministers' conferences that provide a time of encouragement and equipping to bless God's unsung heroes of mission. HIS1040 representatives, usually experienced pastors and evangelists, act as mobile seminaries to provide more training to the new leaders of the global missions movement. Most of them have never had any formal training, but they are obeying God's call upon their lives in ministry through out the 1040 window. They have given themselves to the ministry and have proven themselves faithful and fruitful in the field. Many of them come wounded in their spirits; some even carry scars in their bodies from the persecution prevalent in their areas of ministry. In this 3 day time with their peers they get encouraged, strengthened, and refreshed so they can return to their field with a renewed vision and a deeper sense of calling, as well as a broader sense of community. This gathering is an effort to affirm the ministry of the native/indigenous work force in the kingdom of God who are making a difference against all odds and despite limited resources. Their faithfulness would put many of their counterparts in the West to shame. As we affirm and encourage them in the Lord we also place in their hands some ministry tools to accelerate their effectiveness. At such events we often distribute tools like Study Bibles in their language, pastoral study book sets, bicycles and motor bikes, and Laptops and projectors to the key leaders. |
